COST ANALYSIS OF BREAST CANCER PATIENTS ON THERAPY WITH HORMONE THERAPY IN DR. For Wahidin Sudirohusodo Makassar South Sulawesi
ABSTRACT: Management of breast cancer is one done with hormone therapy. Type of hormone therapy given to patients affect the cost of the required patient. The purpose of this study was to determine the major cost component of therapy and the cost of each unit for outpatient therapy and inpatient therapy and determine the influence of patient characteristics, factor of therapy, and type of hormone therapy on breast cancer treatment costs at RSUP. Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo. The method is an analitic observational study, with a cross-sectional study design. Subjects were patients with breast cancer outpatient and inpatient in the period January-June 2014 at RSUP. Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo who met the inclusion criteria. Data were collected retrospectively extracted from medical records and document tracking data is the cost of treatment of breast cancer patients from hospital perspektive. The data used is the medical record number, age, sex, primary diagnosis of breast cancer, breast cancer stage, comorbidities, type of therapy, duration of therapy, and data on the drug. Data analysis was performed by calculating the prevalence of breast cancer patients are given hormone therapy, major components of costs and expenses for each component, both for therapy outpatient or inpatient. The results showed that breast cancer patient which included in inclusion criteria is 105 patient who underwent inpatient and outpatient. The cost of inpatient for surgery has a range of cost is Rp. 5.436.756 - Rp. 11.071.481 with the largest cost component in inpatient surgery is medical substance after use (BHP) which included in the cost of medical action is Rp. 3.161.748 (28.6%) from total cost Rp. 11.071.481 . The cost of inpatient chemotherapy has a cost range of Rp. 2.546.166 - Rp. 6.823.821 with the largest cost component in inpatient surgery is the cost of drugs is Rp. 5.701.138 (83.5%) from total cost Rp. Rp. 6.823.821. The cost of outpatient has a cost ranges of Rp. 1.538.750 - Rp. 4.202.935 with the largest cost component in outpatient is the cost of drugs is Rp. 2.495.000 (63.57%) from total cost Rp. 4.202.935. Patient characteristics that influence the cost of breast cancer is stage (p = 0.001), medical action (p = 0.001), and cycles of therapy (p = 0.027). In addition, the type of hormone therapy also affects the cost of breast cancer (p = 0.047).
