Model Treatment of Cervical Cancer with Immunotherapy

ABSTRACT: Cervical cancer is a cancer that is caused by a virus called textit{Human Papillomavirus} (HPV) and attack cervix. One of cervical cancer treatments being developed is immunotherapy. Immunotherapy is done by stimulating the immune system to become active and kill cancer. Interleukin-2 is part of immune system that enhances the proliferation of Natural Killer (NK) cells and NK cells are in charge to interact with and kill cancer cells. This thesis combines two mathema-tical models, i.e. mathematical model of cancer and cervical cancer treatment by immunotherapy. In this thesis, the analysis of mathematical model of cancer treatment by immunotherapy is focused on three equilibrium points that are free normal and cancer cells, free normal cells, and free cancer cells. Mathematical model of cervical cancer treatment by immunotherapy describes an interaction between normal cells, cancer cells, NK cells, and IL-2. From the model can be obtained three equilibrium points, i.e. free normal cells, free cancer cells, and cervical cancer equilibrium points. Then criteria of the stability of those equilibrium points will be given.
