EFFECT OF THE EXTENSION OF HEALTH RISK FACTORS MOUTH CANCER SYMPTOMS AND SIGNS ON THE LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE OF DENTAL HEALTH Cadre (Studies in Puskesmas Jetis 1 Bantul, Yogyakarta)

ABSTRACT: Oral cancer is one of a kind of problem in the world especially in the developing country. The prevalence of oral cancer in Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta province is registered 52 cases and 24 cases (46%) in 2015 and it can be found in the Bantul district. The dental health cadres can play an important role as the frontline or in the promotion of dental health care especially in the early detection of oral cancer promotion. Knowledge of oral cancer is needed by dental health cadres as provision to do the health promotion in society. This research has aim to know the influence of risk factor and sign of symptoms oral cancer counseling to the level of dental health cadres� knowledge in Puskesmas Jetis, Bantul, Yogyakarta working region. This research was kind of descriptive analytic and used quasi experimental one group pretest and post-test plan. The technique of collecting sample in this research was using total sampling with 30 respondents. Knowledge was measured by quesionnaire modification. The result of validity test and reliability showed that value of r calculated > r table and the value of alpha > 0,6. Data analyzing was measured by using paired t-test statistic test (Ã�±>0,05) to see the different and to see the influence of counseling to level of knowledge with assess the mean of knowledge difference between after and before counseling, if the difference was negative, it showed that knowledge was increased. The result of research showed that before counseling was at good knowledge category and there was nothing which involved in less category. The result of statistic test showed value of p = 0,00 and mean -1,267.
