EFFECT OF CERVICAL CANCER AND HPV VACCINATION HEALTH EDUCATION ON KNOWLEDGE AND ATTITUDE OF FEMALE STUDENTS AT SMA 1 PONTIANAK
ABSTRACT: Background: Cervical cancer is the third most common cancer in Indonesia. There was one woman who dies every one-hour as a result of cervical cancer. Based on the WHO report in 2012, there was an increasing mortality from 2010 to 2011 caused by cervical cancer. According to a study carried out in five different provinces in Indonesia stated that Indonesian people knowledge about cervical cancer, Human Papilloma Virus infection and Human Papilloma Virus vaccination is still low. Health education is one method to increase the knowledge and attitude about cervical cancer and the prevention through Human Papilloma Virus vaccination. Aim: To know the effect of cervical cancer and HPV vaccination health education on knowledge and attitude of female students at SMA 1 Pontianak. Method: The study was quasi experimental with one group pretest and posttest design. Samples consisted of 79 female students. The data were obtained from questionnaire to assess knowledge and attitude. The data analyzed using Wilcoxon test. Result:Based on the study, there was effect of cervical cancer and HPV vaccination health education on knowledge and attitude of female students with p-value= 0,000(p<0,05). Conclusion:There was effect of cervical cancer and HPV vaccination on knowledge and attitude of female students at SMA 1 Pontianak.
