COMPARISON OF RESPONSE TO TREATMENT OF PATIENTS cervical cancer squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma of the STADIUM UP (IIB-IVB) IN DR. Sardjito

ABSTRACT: Background : The prognosis of cervical cancer is determined by several factors, one of which type of histopathology. By histopathology, cervical cancer consists of several types based on the cell abnormalities. The most common type is squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma. From several studies, the difference is still inconsistent. Therefore, it needs further investigation whether there any difference in treatment response between the two types of cancer cells. Objective : To know the therapy response differences in patients with advanced cervical cancer (IIB-IVB) type squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma. Methods : A retrospective cohort study design on the subject of cervical cancer inpatient and outpatient hospital Dr. Sardjito. Data were obtained from the Medical Records Installation hospital of Dr. Sardjito. Recorded data were obtained from the period 2011 - 2013 include age, height, weight, type of histopathology, stage of cervical cancer, treatment given and the results of pap smear evaluation of therapy. Data were analyzed by computer using chi-square test. Results : The study showed no statistically significant difference between the response to therapy with histopathologic type, age, stage of cervical cancer, hemoglobin levels, and body mass index (p > 0,05). But the difference is found clinically. Conclusions : Clinically, there are differences found in therapy response in patients with advanced cervical cancer based on age, stage, hemoglobin level, body mass index and histological types of cancer cells, but no statistically significant difference found (p > 0,05).
